Zeus’ Story

Our very first adoption story is Zeus’. He was surrendered by his owner’s partner after his owner died. She was no longer able to take care of him but he had been loved deeply. He was about 9.5 years old. When we first met Zeus he was so overwhelmed and nervous but also very brave.

His first week in foster he just wanted to observe everything and everyone. Kids, cats, other dogs… he was gentle and friendly with them all but a little unsure. Zeus loved sitting on his bed and blanket that he brought along with him from home. It seemed to bring him comfort and help him feel safe.

As Zeus settled in, we quickly learned how much he enjoyed going for walks, snuggling in the recliner like he used to do at his previous home, riding in the car, and laying by the front door watching the world go by. He started to become more playful and confident!

Zeus’ new forever family fell in love with him immediately upon seeing his photos and hearing his story. They drove 2+ hours to meet him and take him back home with them to the same town where he used to live. He is now cared for by his new mom and grandma and has 2 human sisters who just love and adore him. He also lives with two labs who he is learning to play and keep up with!

Happy life, Zeus! We’ll always love and remember you as our very first Home Stretch rescue dog to be adopted!
